Half-board here is worth taking: there are four kitchens on site and none of them are phoning it in. Guests rate it for private cabanas and direct beach access. Sunsets are best from the pier bar, and everybody knows it by day three.

Charming and spotless
Third time in Bali and the first time we have got the hotel right. The kids club actually did things rather than parking them in front of a screen, so we got two mornings to ourselves. The sea is genuinely a two-minute walk, not the ten minutes some places call beachfront.
The walk back to the station on the Tuesday, and that is scraping.

Needs a proper refurbishment
Breakfast was fine, and the coffee was better than expected.
The evening entertainment carries as far as the fourth floor. Dust on the top of the wardrobe and behind the door, which we noticed on the first day.

Would think twice
Fine, with caveats. The sauna does the job after a long day walking.
The bed is too firm for us - we ended up putting the spare duvet under the sheet.

Simple and clean
We are fussy about where we sleep. They let us sit in the courtyard with our own wine on the last night.
The beach loungers are chargeable and the free ones go by half past ten.

Checkout is half past ten and a late one costs about as much as another night's breakfast.
