Two nights was enough
Wanted to like it more than we did. Good base for a few nights: clean dorm, big lockers, decent kitchen.
Aircon only runs when the balcony door is properly shut, and the catch is temperamental. The dorm was not cleaned between guests on the Friday.

Quiet and central, kind staff
We ended up in the same corner cafe three mornings running, which tells you something about Athaiba. No faff with the room: dark, cool and quiet by ten.

Adequate and well placed
Booked this on a whim and glad we did. The dorm was fine and the showers were hot in the morning, which is the real test.
The restaurant is fine but you would not choose it if you were not already staying there.

Everything we hoped for
Fast, stable wifi in the room rather than only in the lobby, which is rarer than it should be. The neighbour opposite waters her balcony at seven every morning and says hello. Nobody made me feel odd about eating alone, and the desk checked I had got back on the wet night.
One person on the desk at ten in the evening means a queue when the airport bus arrives.

Well run and welcoming
Travelling on my own, I never felt uneasy walking back into Athaiba late at night. Oil, salt, coffee and a corkscrew already there - whoever set this up has actually travelled.
I was reminded about the half past nine checkout twice on the Monday, which felt unnecessary.

Nobody made me feel odd about eating alone, and the desk checked I had got back on the wet night.
It is a good eight minutes from the nearest tram stop, further than the listing suggests.
