Worth every penny and then some
Proper shower pressure and hot water immediately, not after a minute of hoping; someone has planted herbs in pots by the door and you are clearly meant to use them.
Only that everywhere else now has a lot to live up to.

Well run and welcoming
The hot tub was ready when we arrived, which after the drive was exactly right. We ate in twice out of laziness and were glad both times - the kitchen is better than it needs to be.
The walk back from Ipanema Beach is all uphill, which we had not thought about.

Spotless, including the places nobody checks - skirting boards, the kettle, under the bed.
The walk back to the station on the Tuesday, and that is scraping.

Small room, great location
We nearly booked somewhere flashier and I am glad we did not. Spotless, including the places nobody checks - skirting boards, the kettle, under the bed. Breakfast is worth getting up for: warm bread and good jam, the coffee made to order and fruit that tasted of something. Slept better than at home, which after four flights in a week is saying something. We were at Sugarloaf Mountain in twenty minutes on foot, which changed how we used the days.

Better than the street suggests
Booked this on a whim and glad we did. We ended up in the same corner cafe three mornings running, which tells you something about Leblon. Walking back from Christ the Redeemer after dinner took twelve minutes and never once felt like a trek. The stairs creak in a way that is either charming or annoying depending on how tired you are.
No kettle in the room, which for a British guest is practically a design flaw.
