Small place, big heart
I booked for three nights and extended to five, which tells you what I thought of the price. Free bikes turned a good stay into a great one - I rode along the canal both days. The view from the balcony is not a marketing photograph - it is genuinely that.
We could not find anything to complain about.

Great few days in Oud-West
They kept my rucksack until the evening flight and even brought them down to the taxi. Nobody made me feel odd about eating alone, and the desk checked I had got back on the wet night. A proper coffee machine in the room, not sachets of dust. Breakfast is worth getting up for: a cheese and ham plate, the morning coffee made to order and fruit that tasted of something.
The walk back from Dam Square is all uphill, which I had not thought about. There is one toaster for the whole room, so there is a queue at half past nine.

The best night's sleep of the trip
Travelling on my own, I never felt uneasy walking back into Oud-West late at night.
The walk back to the station on the Saturday, and that is scraping.

Fine for a couple of nights
The desk kept an eye out for me without making a thing of it. Somebody had left a shelf of paperbacks by the window and I got through two of them.
You cannot set the aircon below twenty-three, which in October is not quite enough.

Some good, some frustrating
Reception were helpful when I needed a doctor's address, which I appreciated. The desk kept an eye out for me without making a thing of it.
Getting a taxi to find the entrance took some explaining.

Would give it less if I could
They did refund the second night without arguing, so credit for that.
There was a leak from the ceiling in the bathroom that we reported twice and nothing was done. The fridge in the Cosy Room had somebody else's food in it. It needs a refurbishment rather than another coat of paint, and the price has not caught up with that.
