Great few days in Gangnam
I forgot it was a public holiday and they sorted me a table anyway. Blackout curtains that meet in the middle, a mattress with some life in it, and silence after eleven.
Only the weather, which is hardly their doing.

Left a night early
Good for a few nights alone - I was left to get on with it.
The air conditioning rattled on the second night; maintenance swapped a part the next morning. A bottle of water in the room costs what a bottle of wine costs on the corner.

Spoiled us completely
The kettle was already descaled, which is the kind of detail that tells you how a place is run. Warm room, thick curtains and dark afternoons spent reading - exactly what December is for.
The walk back from Gyeongbokgung Palace is all uphill, which we had not thought about. The bathroom light is on a motion sensor and comes on if you turn over in bed.

Comfortable, quiet, well placed
Housekeeping were quietly excellent and clearly took pride in the rooms. A real desk with a real chair and a socket at elbow height - somebody has actually worked in a hotel room before.
Only that everywhere else now has a lot to live up to.

twenty-five minutes from Gyeongbokgung Palace
Not a mark anywhere, and the room smelled of nothing at all, which is exactly right. The bar pours a decent negroni and does not empty at nine. Late nights out and nobody once tutted at us coming in at three.
The walk back to the station on the Tuesday, and that is scraping.

Perfect for a long weekend
Our flight landed at one in the morning and the man on the desk still made us a tea. The view from the balcony is not a marketing photograph - it is genuinely that. The staff pointed us to a wine bar round the corner and it became our regular.
The lift is slow enough that we walked down from the third floor most days.
