6.9The address is the best thing about it
Firm mattress, which is exactly how I like it. Breakfast is an extra, and worth it for honey from the market alone. Practical base near the offices, and the checkout was quick at seven in the morning.
The Standard Double Room is smaller than the photographs suggest - two open cases will not fit on the floor. Blackout blinds would make a difference in December, when it is bright by half past six.

9.2Would recommend with one caveat
Beitou turned out to be exactly the right call - everything we had pinned was walkable. A real desk with a real chair and a socket at elbow height - somebody has actually worked in a hotel room before. Small breakfast, but everything on the table was good - fresh figs and yoghurt and a pot of proper coffee.
Loading and unloading outside is awkward on a street that narrow.

8.7Friendly and well run
Not a mark anywhere, and the room smelled of nothing at all, which is exactly right. The staff pointed us to a noodle counter round the corner and it became our regular. Plenty of storage in the Standard Double Room, which sounds dull until you have unpacked for a fortnight.
There is no fridge in the room, so the wine we bought stayed warm.

Good toiletries in refillable bottles, and towels changed without being asked twice. Small breakfast, but everything on the table was good - almond croissants and a pot of proper coffee.

You get more for the money here than at the two places we priced up in Beitou. They keep a jar of sweets by the lift that nobody admits to eating from.
The bathroom is clean but the fittings belong to a previous decade.

9.5Genuinely special
Four of us across two rooms on the same corridor, which they arranged without being asked. Check-in was quick and human, and they remembered our names for the rest of the stay.
The walk back from Raohe Night Market is all uphill, which we had not thought about.
