Better than the price suggests
We nearly booked somewhere flashier and I am glad we did not. Underfloor heating in the bathroom in December is a small luxury that we noticed every morning. Not a mark anywhere, and the room smelled of nothing at all, which is exactly right.

Does the important things well
Jumeirah Beach has that mix of locals and visitors that makes a place feel alive rather than staged.
Checkout at eleven is early when you have an evening flight. Blackout blinds would make a difference in December, when it is bright by half past seven.

Some good, some frustrating
Location is the strong point - five minutes to Dubai Creek and a metro stop close by.
Nobody told us the restaurant was closed for the week until we turned up hungry on the Monday. Service in the bar was slow when it filled up after half past nine.

Room for improvement
Breakfast is solid rather than lavish - warm bread and good jam and reliable coffee. Easy place to be a group without annoying anyone.
Everything on site is priced for people not counting, from the water to the laundry.

Reliable rather than exciting
Third time in Dubai and the first time we have got the hotel right. The gym has what you need for a week away and is never busy. The radiator clanked at about two in the morning and then settled down, and honestly we grew fond of it.
The kitchen closes at half past ten, which we found out the hard way on the Saturday.

Faultless from start to finish
Free weights and two treadmills that are not held together with tape. For Dubai, this is a properly central spot without the coach parties. Iron that heats up, a mirror you can knot a tie in, and enough sockets by the bed.
Breakfast is charged separately and is not far off cafe prices in Jumeirah Beach.
