8.4Well run and welcoming
We spent both evenings in the bar downstairs and never felt hurried out of it. Free weights and two treadmills that are not held together with tape. Sitting in the hot tub with steam coming off it and nothing but stars overhead - hard to top.
Check-in is not until four and there is nowhere comfortable to wait.

Firm mattress, which suits us, and a duvet that is not the usual thin thing. The kettle was already descaled, which is the kind of detail that tells you how a place is run.

Late nights out and nobody once tutted at us coming in at three - we spent both evenings in the bar downstairs and never felt hurried out of it.
Hot water was slow to arrive on the fourth floor first thing.

7.4Would stay again at that price
Good set-up for families - a shallow pool, high chairs and staff who do not mind noise. The stairs creak in a way that is either charming or annoying depending on how tired you are. The view over the rooftops from the balcony is a proper one.
The last two hundred metres are steep and cobbled - not a problem, just plan for it.

Blackout curtains that meet in the middle, a mattress with some life in it, and silence after eleven.

8.6Strong on location and staff
The window in the bathroom looks straight onto a wall covered in jasmine. Swimming before breakfast, sand rinsed off at the outdoor shower, then straight to the terrace.
Hot water was slow to arrive on the third floor first thing.
