Bunks with curtains, lockers that take a big bag, and a kitchen people actually use. Two things people mention most: free walking tour daily and female-only dorms. Solid rather than spectacular, and priced accordingly.

Tired and overpriced
Not a disaster, just not what I expected. Nobody blinked at a table for one, which is not true everywhere - clean and tidy throughout the stay.
There is construction across the street that starts at half past seven, so bring earplugs. Nobody was on the desk for about fifteen minutes when I arrived on the Wednesday.

Location carries it
Good base for a few nights: clean dorm, big lockers, decent kitchen.
Thin walls, so I knew a fair amount about my neighbours and their travel plans.

Good location, average room
I am fussy about where I sleep. The rate held steady when I added a night, which I appreciated. Sociable without being a party hostel, and the bunks are sturdy.
No screens on the windows, so it is a choice between the heat and the mosquitoes.

A find
Straight to it: the location is the thing. Somebody had left a shelf of paperbacks by the window and I got through two of them; housekeeping were quietly excellent and clearly took pride in the rooms.
Not a single thing, which almost never happens.

Sound choice near Khan el-Khalili
The aircon held the room cool all through the August heat. The radiator clanked at about two in the morning and then settled down, and honestly we grew fond of it.
It is showing its age in places - a chipped door frame here, a tired carpet there.

A proper welcome
Blackout curtains that meet in the middle, a mattress with some life in it, and silence after eleven. A cat lives in the courtyard and considers the chairs to be hers. In August you need the aircon to work properly, and here it does.
No complaints from us this time.
