A mid-sized hotel with a lift, a bar and a late front desk, ten minutes on foot from Grand Egyptian Museum. It scores well on 24-hour front desk, less so on being the cheapest option in Downtown. Book direct and they will usually hold the room until the evening.

Downtown done properly
The courtyard rooms hear nothing but pigeons, which is the whole point. Ola sorted a late checkout on the last day without us even having to push for it. The heating was already on when we arrived, which in December matters more than any spa.
Waiting ten seconds for the lift each time adds up when you go back for a jumper.

Some good, some frustrating
A desk of a usable size, a proper chair and sockets where you need them.
The walk back from Grand Egyptian Museum is all uphill, which we had not thought about.

Photos are years out of date
The location is genuinely good, and that is the only reason this is not lower.
The Junior Suite had not been cleaned properly: hair in the shower tray and dust along every skirting board. Nobody was on the desk for long stretches, so we stood in the lobby with my rucksack for ten minutes at check-in. The bathroom door did not shut and the toilet ran all night.

Handy, if a little dated
Short version: yes. The bathroom is cleverly laid out and the shower is hot and fast. The Deluxe King Room suited us well for a short stay.
The last two hundred metres are steep and cobbled - not a problem, just plan for it.

Would stay again at that price
The front door code worked every time, which sounds like a low bar until you have stayed somewhere it did not. Efficient and predictable, which is what a two-night work trip needs.
The city tax and the cleaning fee together came as a surprise at checkout.

Nearly perfect
Twenty minutes to the conference centre, laundry back same day, invoice correct first time. They lent me an umbrella on the wet Tuesday and did not ask for it back until I left.
Mosquitoes in the evening once the doors are open - the shop on the corner sells the plug-ins.
