Worst stay of the trip
They did refund the second night without arguing, so credit for that.
Noise from the bar downstairs went on past two every night and the walls do nothing. Nobody was on the desk for long stretches, so we stood in the lobby with the suitcases for ten minutes at check-in.

Ten out of ten for Silver Lake
Travelling on my own, I never felt uneasy walking back into Silver Lake late at night. The lift has one of those inner doors you have to pull shut, which the children opposite treated as the highlight of their week.
Nothing that would stop us booking again tomorrow.

Good spot, tired rooms
Good set-up for families - a shallow pool, high chairs and staff who do not mind noise.
The kitchen closes at eleven, which we found out the hard way on the Thursday.

Best breakfast of the trip
Small breakfast, but everything on the table was good - fresh figs and yoghurt and a pot of proper coffee. Spotless, including the places nobody checks - skirting boards, the kettle, under the bed. We ate in twice out of laziness and were glad both times - the kitchen is better than it needs to be.
The shower takes a good minute to warm up, which adds up over three days.

Falls short of the description
Fine for a work trip: quiet floor, quick breakfast, cab rank outside.
The shower head is fixed high on the wall and cannot be angled.

Stayed three nights, wanted five
Twenty-four hour reception meant a two a.m. arrival was a non-event. The bar pours a decent negroni and does not empty at nine. Travelling on my own, I never felt uneasy walking back into Silver Lake late at night.
There is one toaster for the whole room, so there is a queue at eleven.
