Location carries it
Practical base near the offices, and the checkout was quick at seven in the morning. Petra at the desk was the standout - patient and genuinely useful.
Nowhere to put anything in the bathroom except the edge of the basin.

Some good, some frustrating
Not a disaster, just not what we expected. We slept well: the room is dark, cool and quiet after ten. Jumeirah Beach is a sensible base, a few streets back from the crowds and still close to everything. Quiet from about ten at night, once the bar downstairs empties out.
Blackout blinds would make a difference in December, when it is bright by half past six.

Not acceptable at any price
It is close to Dubai Mall, and that is the whole of the good news.
Building work started at half past six every morning and nobody mentioned it when we booked. The kitchen was missing most of what you would need to cook, despite the listing. The lock on the door did not engage properly, which is not something you want to discover at midnight. We were moved rooms on the Thursday at an hour's notice with no explanation.

Genuinely special
Plenty of storage in the Junior Suite, which sounds dull until you have unpacked for a fortnight. Luggage storage on the last day meant a proper final afternoon rather than dragging cases about. the morning coffee in the lobby is free all day and genuinely good.
Only the weather, which is hardly their doing.

Friendly and well run
I am not usually breakfast people and I went down every morning. They keep a jar of sweets by the lift that nobody admits to eating from. The wifi held up through a two-hour video call without a single drop.
Checkout at half past ten is early when you have an evening flight.

Comfortable enough for three nights
Reasonably peaceful at the back of the building. They keep a pillow menu at reception and actually bring what you ask for. Three rooms on the same floor, which saved a lot of shouting up stairwells. Fair value for Dubai prices, particularly in high season.
