Poor value in Altstadt
Plenty of places to eat within a short walk, most of them reasonably priced; the bed itself was comfortable enough.
The desk was stretched thin and it showed - four requests went unanswered.

Clean and central, not much else
The concierge was helpful with tickets and directions. There is a coffee machine in the room, which saved us a few euros a day. Breakfast is solid rather than lavish - proper pastries and reliable coffee.
You cannot set the aircon below twenty-three, which in November is not quite enough.

Warm welcome in Altstadt
Double glazing that works, so the tram going past is a rumour rather than an event. Underfloor heating in the bathroom in November is a small luxury that we noticed every morning.
Checkout is eleven and a late one costs about as much as another night's breakfast.

Ask for a room at the back
We nearly booked somewhere flashier and I am glad we did not. I left a charger behind and it arrived at home nine days later, no charge for the postage. Luggage storage on the last day meant a proper final afternoon rather than dragging cases about. We are not usually breakfast people and we went down every morning.
The bathroom light is on a motion sensor and comes on if you turn over in bed. The shower door leaks a little onto the bathroom floor.

Sound choice near Uetliberg
We nearly booked somewhere flashier and I am glad we did not. Easy place to be a group without annoying anyone.
Nowhere to put anything in the bathroom except the edge of the basin.

Lovely, if you don't mind stairs
I am fussy about where I sleep. Underfloor heating in the bathroom in July is a small luxury that I noticed every morning. Spot on for a first visit - you can walk out of the door and start.
