3.5Cancelled the rest of our stay
It is quiet during the day, if that is any use to anyone.
I would have moved out on the first night if anything else had been free. Noise from the bar downstairs went on past two every night and the walls do nothing. Housekeeping did not come at all in four nights and we asked for towels twice. It needs a refurbishment rather than another coat of paint, and the price has not caught up with that.

7.2Location good, room less so
Mixed feelings about this one. Quiet from about ten at night, once the bar downstairs empties out. Feels like a real home rather than a rental, which I prefer. There is a coffee machine in the room, which saved me a few euros a day.
Everything on site is priced for people not counting, from the water to the laundry. Check-in is not until four and there is nowhere comfortable to wait.

8.3No complaints, no fireworks
Third time in Bali and the first time we have got the hotel right. Kitchen is well enough equipped for simple cooking. Wifi was quick enough for email, maps and an evening of streaming. Location is the strong point - eight minutes to Uluwatu Temple and a metro stop close by.
Wifi does not reach the terrace, which is where you actually want to sit.

9.7Faultless from start to finish
Booked late and got lucky. The building is residential, so the stairwell smells of somebody's dinner rather than air freshener.

7.8Fair value for Bali
Straight to it: the location is the thing. Straightforward self check-in and a well-equipped flat. A cat lives in the courtyard and considers the chairs to be hers. There is a coffee machine in the room, which saved us a few euros a day.
Checkout is half past ten and a late one costs about as much as another night's breakfast.

9.5Book it and stop looking
There is a lift, which in a building this old is a small miracle. Cheaper than the chain hotels two streets over and considerably nicer. Living like a resident rather than a guest for a week: market, kitchen, balcony, repeat.
Only that everywhere else now has a lot to live up to.
