Comfortable enough
Went in with low expectations after the last place. Clean and tidy throughout the stay - the radiator clanked at about two in the morning and then settled down, and honestly I grew fond of it. Fine for a work trip: quiet floor, quick breakfast, cab rank outside. Two bus routes and a tram stop within a few minutes, so I got around easily.
Nobody was on the desk for about forty minutes when I arrived on the Thursday.

The best night's sleep of the trip
Would come back tomorrow. I ate in twice out of laziness and were glad both times - the kitchen is better than it needs to be. Iron that heats up, a mirror you can knot a tie in, and enough sockets by the bed; the air conditioning made the August heat survivable and it runs quietly. Underfloor heating in the bathroom in August is a small luxury that I noticed every morning.
No screens on the windows, so it is a choice between the heat and the mosquitoes.

Average stay in a good spot
A cat lives in the courtyard and considers the chairs to be hers. Wifi was quick enough for email, maps and an evening of streaming. Chinatown is a sensible base, a few streets back from the crowds and still close to everything.
Nobody was on the desk for about ten minutes when I arrived on the Wednesday.

Adequate and well placed
Chinatown is a sensible base, a few streets back from the crowds and still close to everything. Somebody had left a shelf of paperbacks by the window and I got through two of them. Chinatown is pleasant to wander in the evening, and nothing felt far.
The bathroom is clean but the fittings belong to a previous decade.

Wanted to like it more
The desk kept an eye out for me without making a thing of it. Breakfast is solid rather than lavish - seasonal fruit and reliable coffee.
The furniture is dated and the corridors could do with a repaint. There is no fridge in the room, so the wine I bought stayed warm.

Falls short of the description
Good set-up for families - a shallow pool, high chairs and staff who do not mind noise.
The last two hundred metres are steep and cobbled - not a problem, just plan for it. Nobody told us the restaurant was closed for the week until we turned up hungry on the Sunday.
