Beat our expectations
Breakfast is worth getting up for: fresh figs and yoghurt, the morning coffee made to order and fruit that tasted of something. They put a cot in without being asked and left a small plate of fruit for the little one.

twenty-five minutes from Temple of Literature
Fast, stable wifi in the room rather than only in the lobby, which is rarer than it should be. Four of us across two rooms on the same corridor, which they arranged without being asked. Two nights in and we were sleeping through until eight, which never happens for us.

Tired and overpriced
Reasonably peaceful at the back of the building. Good set-up for families - a shallow pool, high chairs and staff who do not mind noise.
The staircase is narrow and steep, so allow a minute or two more than you think. The room we were given was not the one we booked and it took four conversations to be moved.

Does the job
Good position overall, and I walked most places rather than paying for cabs. Nobody blinked at a table for one, which is not true everywhere. Fair value for Hanoi prices, particularly in high season.
The extractor does not cope, so the mirror is useless after the first shower. The bathroom is clean but the fittings belong to a previous decade.

Somewhere between fine and not
The Junior Suite suited me well for a short stay. Clean and tidy throughout the stay. A cat lives in the courtyard and considers the chairs to be hers.
Pillows are enormous and there is no alternative on offer.

Perfect for a long weekend
Plenty of storage in the Standard Double Room, which sounds dull until you have unpacked for a fortnight. Half board with a children's sitting at six meant we ate dinner in peace afterwards.
