Warm welcome in Sunshine Bay
We nearly booked somewhere flashier and I am glad we did not. I uploaded a large file from the room in minutes and nobody at the other end noticed I was away. A cat lives in the courtyard and considers the chairs to be hers.
The last two hundred metres are steep and cobbled - not a problem, just plan for it.

Our favourite find in Queenstown
Booked late and got lucky. Travelling on my own, I never felt uneasy walking back into Sunshine Bay late at night. For Queenstown, this is a properly central spot without the coach parties. Nothing was too much trouble - a spare adapter, a table booking, a taxi at dawn.
I have sat here for a minute and cannot think of anything.

Comfortable enough for three nights
Reception were helpful when we needed a doctor's address, which we appreciated.
The bathroom light is on a motion sensor and comes on if you turn over in bed.

Better on price than polish
There is a shortcut through the square that saves about five minutes and somebody drew it on our map. They let us sit in the courtyard with our own wine on the last night.
Blackout blinds would make a difference in November, when it is bright by seven.

Book it and stop looking
Third time in Queenstown and the first time I have got the hotel right. The courtyard rooms hear nothing but pigeons, which is the whole point. Travelling on my own, I never felt uneasy walking back into Sunshine Bay late at night. Walking back from Arrowtown after dinner took eight minutes and never once felt like a trek.
Only the weather, which is hardly their doing.

Average stay in a good spot
They lent me an umbrella on the wet Tuesday and did not ask for it back until I left. Good position overall, and I walked most places rather than paying for cabs. Reception were helpful when I needed a doctor's address, which I appreciated.
Service ranged from warm to indifferent depending on who was working.
