Hotel Grand Recoleta has been part of Recoleta for years, and it shows in the way the front desk talks about the area. Expect soundproofed rooms and, if you ask, on-site restaurant and bar. Good for one night before a flight and good for five without one.

Ticked every box that mattered
We ended up in the same corner cafe three mornings running, which tells you something about Recoleta; there is a bakery two doors down that opens at six, which we discovered by accident on the first morning.
Checkout is half past ten and a late one costs about as much as another night's breakfast.

Quiet and central, kind staff
Four of us across two rooms on the same corridor, which they arranged without being asked. Spotless, including the places nobody checks - skirting boards, the kettle, under the bed. There is a good market on Saturday about twenty-five minutes away that nobody had told us about.
Nothing worth mentioning, and that is rare.

Small room, great location
Travelling on my own, I never felt uneasy walking back into Recoleta late at night. Proper shower pressure and hot water immediately, not after a minute of hoping.
Blackout blinds would make a difference in November, when it is bright by half past six.

Good value for Recoleta
Proper shower pressure and hot water immediately, not after a minute of hoping. Spot on for a first visit - you can walk out of the door and start. Recoleta has that mix of locals and visitors that makes a place feel alive rather than staged. The restaurant does a short menu properly rather than a long one badly.
The curtains do not quite meet in the middle, so you are up with the light. Checkout is nine and a late one costs about as much as another night's breakfast.

Nearly perfect
They put a cot in without being asked and left a small plate of fruit for our son. We arrived hours early and they took the cases without a fuss, then messaged when the room was ready.
It is a good twenty minutes from the nearest tram stop, further than the listing suggests.

Good sleep, good breakfast
Astonishingly quiet for somewhere this central - we never heard the street once. Housekeeping were quietly excellent and clearly took pride in the rooms.
There is no fridge in the room, so the wine we bought stayed warm.
