Left a night early
Booked on the photographs, which was my mistake. Connection was good enough to work from for a morning. Giza is pleasant to wander in the evening, and nothing felt far.
The bathroom fan runs for fifteen minutes after you leave and is loud. The room I was given was not the one I booked and it took five conversations to be moved.

Does the important things well
Warm room, thick curtains and dark afternoons spent reading - exactly what December is for. They keep a jar of sweets by the lift that nobody admits to eating from.

Passable, at a push
Mixed feelings about this one. Breakfast is solid rather than lavish - proper pastries and reliable coffee. Firm mattress, which is exactly how I like it. The gym has what you need for a week away and is never busy.
The desk was stretched thin and it showed - two requests went unanswered. Breakfast stops at half past nine even at weekends, which felt early.

Lovely staff, lovely building
We nearly booked somewhere flashier and I am glad we did not. Somebody on the desk at three in the morning when our flight finally landed, still cheerful. Shuttle runs often enough that we never checked the timetable twice.
Nothing - we have already looked at dates for next year.

Small place, big heart
Booked this on a whim and glad we did. We booked for three nights and extended to five, which tells you what we thought of the price. We spent both evenings in the bar downstairs and never felt hurried out of it.
Nothing worth mentioning, and that is rare.
