We have already rebooked
Third time in Bergen and the first time we have got the hotel right. Fast, stable wifi in the room rather than only in the lobby, which is rarer than it should be. Cheaper than the chain hotels two streets over and considerably nicer.
Nothing worth mentioning, and that is rare.

Tired and overpriced
Booked on the photographs, which was my mistake. There is a coffee machine in the room, which saved me a few euros a day. Nobody blinked at a table for one, which is not true everywhere. Room was warm enough in December, which was the main worry.
Delivery vans start up under the window from around half past seven. It is showing its age in places - a chipped door frame here, a tired carpet there.

Half board with a children's sitting at six meant we ate dinner in peace afterwards. The wifi held up through a two-hour video call without a single drop.
The curtains do not quite meet in the middle, so you are up with the light.

Strong all round
They put a cot in without being asked and left a small plate of fruit for the children.

Strong on location and staff
Small gym but everything works, and it is open at six when I need it. Årstad has that mix of locals and visitors that makes a place feel alive rather than staged.
We were reminded about the eleven checkout twice on the Friday, which felt unnecessary.

Comfortable and well placed
You step out of the door and you are already somewhere worth being. Fast, stable wifi in the room rather than only in the lobby, which is rarer than it should be. Housekeeping were quietly excellent and clearly took pride in the rooms.
Shower pressure drops off when the floor is busy at about half past seven. Check-in is not until four and there is nowhere comfortable to wait.
