The one to book in Žižkov
Nobody made me feel odd about eating alone, and the desk checked I had got back on the wet night. Warm room, thick curtains and dark afternoons spent reading - exactly what December is for. The lift has one of those inner doors you have to pull shut, which the children opposite treated as the highlight of their week.

Complained twice, changed nothing
Honestly, very little. I was out from early until late to avoid being in the Family Room.
Housekeeping did not come at all in five nights and I asked for towels twice. The fridge in the Family Room had somebody else's food in it. Nobody was on the desk for long stretches, so I stood in the lobby with my bags for ten minutes at check-in. It needs a refurbishment rather than another coat of paint, and the price has not caught up with that.

One night too many
Comfortable bed, and they brought firmer pillows within ten minutes of asking. Easy place to stay on your own, and the area is fine to walk at night.
The grouting in the bathroom is tired and no amount of cleaning will fix it now. It is showing its age in places - a chipped door frame here, a tired carpet there.

Not terrible, not memorable
Our flight landed at one in the morning and the man on the desk still made us a tea. You get more for the money here than at the two places we priced up in Žižkov. The Family Room is well organised and everything has somewhere to go.
The restaurant is fine but you would not choose it if you were not already staying there.

Good sleep, good breakfast
Somebody on the desk at three in the morning when my flight finally landed, still cheerful. Travelling on my own, I never felt uneasy walking back into Žižkov late at night. The Superior Twin Room is bigger than the photographs suggest and cleverly laid out.

Best breakfast of the trip
Someone has planted herbs in pots by the door and you are clearly meant to use them. Nothing was too much trouble - a spare adapter, a table booking, a taxi at dawn. Worth every penny, and we do not say that often.
Checkout at ten is early when you have an evening flight.
