6.4Good spot, tired rooms
Clean bathroom, fresh towels daily, nothing to complain about. The kettle was already descaled, which is the kind of detail that tells you how a place is run.
Shower pressure drops off when the floor is busy at about half past six.

Free weights and two treadmills that are not held together with tape.
Parking nearby is expensive, though that is Doha rather than the hotel. Breakfast is the same every day, which by the last morning I had noticed.

6.5Falls short of the description
The Standard Double Room suited me well for a short stay. Plenty of places to eat within a short walk, most of them reasonably priced. Good for a few nights alone - I was left to get on with it.
The curtains do not quite meet in the middle, so you are up with the light. It is showing its age in places - a chipped door frame here, a tired carpet there.

7.9Practical rather than charming
Not fancy, but that was never the point. There is a lift, which I was glad of on the way up with the suitcases. The Family Room suited me well for a short stay. Youssef at the desk was the standout - patient and genuinely useful. Practical base near the offices, and the checkout was quick at seven in the morning.
The shower door leaks a little onto the bathroom floor. Service in the bar was slow when it filled up after ten.

9.9Charming and spotless
Booked late and got lucky. You step out of the door and you are already somewhere worth being. The stairs creak in a way that is either charming or annoying depending on how tired you are. There is a lift, which in a building this old is a small miracle.
Nothing at all in three nights.
