9.7Our favourite find in Reykjavík
Would come back tomorrow. Spotless, including the places nobody checks - skirting boards, the kettle, under the bed. Iron that heats up, a mirror you can knot a tie in, and enough sockets by the bed. Youssef at the concierge desk got me a table at a place that had told me it was fully booked.
Honestly, nothing.

6.3Wanted to like it more
Wanted to like it more than we did. There is a shortcut through the square that saves about five minutes and somebody drew it on our map. Fair value for Reykjavík prices, particularly in high season.
The hot water failed on the third morning and was still off when we left.

8.6Solid choice, would return
We nearly booked somewhere flashier and I am glad we did not. Late nights out and nobody once tutted at us coming in at three. Worth every penny, and we do not say that often. There is a lift, which in a building this old is a small miracle.
We were reminded about the ten checkout twice on the Sunday, which felt unnecessary.

4.9Regretted it by the second night
The building is beautiful from the outside.
The lift was out of order the whole week and there is no sign of it being fixed. The lock on the door did not engage properly, which is not something you want to discover at midnight. The room we were given was not the one we booked and it took four conversations to be moved.

8.5Better than the price suggests
Travelling on my own, I never felt uneasy walking back into Kópavogur late at night. There is a bakery two doors down that opens at six, which I discovered by accident on the first morning.
Hot water was slow to arrive on the fourth floor first thing.

3.7Complained twice, changed nothing
Ayşe on the desk was kind about it, which is more than the place deserves.
There was a leak from the ceiling in the bathroom that I reported twice and nothing was done. Nobody was on the desk for long stretches, so I stood in the lobby with my bags for forty minutes at check-in. There was mould in the corner of the bathroom ceiling and the extractor did not work. Service ranged from warm to indifferent depending on who was working.
