Kelvin Heights done properly
The staff pointed us to a wine bar round the corner and it became our regular.
There is no fridge in the room, so the wine we bought stayed warm.

Genuinely lovely stay
Small breakfast, but everything on the table was good - eggs done to order and a pot of proper coffee. Proper shower pressure and hot water immediately, not after a minute of hoping.
The shower takes a good minute to warm up, which adds up over five days.

Good spot, tired rooms
A desk of a usable size, a proper chair and sockets where you need them. Breakfast is solid rather than lavish - almond croissants and reliable coffee. Sanne at the desk was the standout - patient and genuinely useful.
Delivery vans start up under the window from around seven.

Quiet and central, kind staff
Booked late and got lucky. The bar pours a decent negroni and does not empty at nine. Nobody made me feel odd about eating alone, and the desk checked I had got back on the wet night.
There is one toaster for the whole room, so there is a queue at ten.

Photos are years out of date
One of the cleaners was lovely and clearly working with nothing.
For the money we paid this was not acceptable. We reported a broken shower on arrival and it was still broken when we left five days later. The lift was out of order the whole week and there is no sign of it being fixed.
