Practical rather than charming
Bag storage on the last day was useful. Location is the strong point - twenty-five minutes to St John's Co-Cathedral and a metro stop close by.
The bathroom is clean but the fittings belong to a previous decade.

Worst stay of the trip
The morning coffee was fine, which is a thin thing to end on.
Nobody was on the desk for long stretches, so I stood in the lobby with the cases for twenty-five minutes at check-in. The kitchen was missing most of what you would need to cook, despite the listing. Housekeeping did not come at all in three nights and I asked for towels twice.

Friendly and well run
They put a cot in without being asked and left a small plate of fruit for our daughter. Two nights in and we were sleeping through until eight, which never happens for us. We spent both evenings in the bar downstairs and never felt hurried out of it.
Loading and unloading outside is awkward on a street that narrow.

Faultless from start to finish
Travelling on my own, I never felt uneasy walking back into Valletta late at night.

Cannot recommend it
Our taxi driver could not find the entrance and drove past it twice, so save the map pin. Reasonably peaceful at the back of the building.
The bed is too firm for us - we ended up putting the spare duvet under the sheet. You hear the door of the room next to you every time it shuts.

Tired and overpriced
Fine, with caveats. Fair value for Valletta prices, particularly in high season. Clean and tidy throughout the stay.
A bottle of water in the room costs what a bottle of wine costs on the corner.
