6.0Falls well short
Being twenty minutes from Begijnhof was the one thing that worked in its favour.
The bathroom is clean but the fittings belong to a previous decade. One radiator for the whole room, and in December that is not quite enough.

8.2Sound choice near Begijnhof
Not fancy, but that was never the point. The shuttle runs on the hour and drops you right at the terminal. Fine for a work trip: quiet floor, quick breakfast, cab rank outside.
The carpet on the third floor is due for replacing.

9.3Could not have gone better
both boys were in the pool from nine until they were dragged out, and the shallow end is properly shallow. Shuttle runs often enough that we never checked the timetable twice. Cheaper than the chain hotels two streets over and considerably nicer. There is a good market on Saturday about twenty minutes away that nobody had told us about.
We could not find anything to complain about.

9.3Genuinely special
Someone has planted herbs in pots by the door and you are clearly meant to use them. Twenty minutes to the conference centre, laundry back same day, invoice correct first time. Two nights in and I was sleeping through until eight, which never happens for me. Nothing was too much trouble - a spare adapter, a table booking, a taxi at dawn.
Nothing, and I am usually good at finding something.

7.4Better on price than polish
The bathroom is cleverly laid out and the shower is hot and fast. Plenty of places to eat within a short walk, most of them reasonably priced.
There is no fridge in the room, so the wine we bought stayed warm.

7.1A stay of two halves
Nobody blinked at a table for one, which is not true everywhere. There is a bakery two doors down that opens at six, which I discovered by accident on the first morning. Quiet from about ten at night, once the bar downstairs empties out.
Housekeeping missed me entirely on the Thursday. One person on the desk at half past nine in the evening means a queue when the airport bus arrives.
