Part hotel, part gallery, Hotel Wren changes the art on its walls twice a year. It scores well on locally roasted coffee in the lobby, less so on being the cheapest option in Bastille. It is the kind of place people rebook rather than recommend loudly.

Our flight landed at one in the morning and the man on the desk still made us a tea. Worked well for a group of us, with somewhere to sit together in the evening.
The walk back from Musée d'Orsay is all uphill, which we had not thought about.

Easy place to be a group without annoying anyone.
Shower pressure drops off when the floor is busy at about eight.

7.6Comfortable enough for three nights
Good position overall, and we walked most places rather than paying for cabs. The neighbour opposite waters her balcony at seven every morning and says hello.
The carpet on the second floor is due for replacing.

Fine, with caveats. Charming small hotel, and the tiling lifts it above the usual.
The furniture is dated and the corridors could do with a repaint. The bathroom fan runs for forty minutes after you leave and is loud.

9.7Bastille done properly
For what we paid in November, this was the best value stay of the trip by a distance. Late nights out and nobody once tutted at us coming in at three.
That we booked only four nights.
