Fine if you're out all day
The front door code worked every time, which sounds like a low bar until you have stayed somewhere it did not. Kampung Baru is a sensible base, a few streets back from the crowds and still close to everything.
A bottle of water in the room costs what a bottle of wine costs on the corner.

Genuinely special
Late nights out and nobody once tutted at us coming in at three. They lent us an umbrella on the wet Tuesday and did not ask for it back until we left.
Nothing here. Do book it.

Clean and central, not much else
Long weekend, first time in Kampung Baru. Practical base near the offices, and the checkout was quick at seven in the morning.
The Junior Suite is smaller than the photographs suggest - two open cases will not fit on the floor.

Two nights, and two would have been plenty. Worked well for a group of us, with somewhere to sit together in the evening.
Nobody told us the restaurant was closed for the week until we turned up hungry on the Monday.

Ticked every box that mattered
Turned up late, tired and grumpy, and were looked after. Nobody made me feel odd about eating alone, and the desk checked I had got back on the wet night.

Reliable rather than exciting
Practical base near the offices, and the checkout was quick at seven in the morning. A desk of a usable size, a proper chair and sockets where you need them. We slept well: the room is dark, cool and quiet after ten.
It is a good ten minutes from the nearest tram stop, further than the listing suggests.
