Somewhere to come back to
Long weekend, first time in Chinatown. Walking back from Hawker Chan after dinner took twenty-five minutes and never once felt like a trek. Four of us across two rooms on the same corridor, which they arranged without being asked. We upgraded to the Suite and would do it again without thinking.

Strong all round
Records in the room, a proper armchair and the flat whites that would hold up in any city. Slept better than at home, which after four flights in a week is saying something. A bell rings somewhere nearby on the hour and we stopped noticing it by the second day.
Nobody was on the desk for about twenty minutes when we arrived on the Sunday. It is uphill from the metro, which you feel with the cases in the heat.

Better in the photos
Firm mattress, which is exactly how I like it. You get more for the money here than at the two places I priced up in Chinatown. Clean bed linen, clean towels, clean floors. That is the main thing.
The shower door leaks a little onto the bathroom floor. The bathroom door catches on the bed frame, which tells you the size of the Suite.

Would recommend with one caveat
The kind of place you book for two nights and immediately regret not booking for four. The wifi held up through a two-hour video call without a single drop. The lift has one of those inner doors you have to pull shut, which the children opposite treated as the highlight of their week.
Checkout is eleven and a late one costs about as much as another night's breakfast.

Great base for Singapore
Room service arrived in fifteen minutes at half past ten, which is why I book here. My taxi driver could not find the entrance and drove past it twice, so save the map pin.
The shower head is fixed high on the wall and cannot be angled.
