Friendly and well run
Records in the room, a proper armchair and the morning coffee that would hold up in any city.
Breakfast stops at ten even at weekends, which felt early.

Charming and spotless
I ran two client calls from the desk and the room was quiet enough that nobody asked where I was. Nobody made me feel odd about eating alone, and the desk checked I had got back on the wet night.
Not a single thing, which almost never happens.

The address is the best thing about it
We slept well: the room is dark, cool and quiet after ten.
The kitchen closes at half past ten, which we found out the hard way on the Saturday. There is one toaster for the whole room, so there is a queue at eleven.

No complaints, no fireworks
Reasonably peaceful at the back of the building. Charming small hotel, and the fabrics lifts it above the usual. Kelvin Heights is pleasant to wander in the evening, and nothing felt far.
The shower takes a good minute to warm up, which adds up over five days.

Lovely, if you don't mind stairs
Coffee on the balcony late in the evening, watching Kelvin Heights wake up. Worth the upgrade. Twenty minutes to the conference centre, laundry back same day, invoice correct first time. The wifi held up through a two-hour video call without a single drop.
Checkout is ten and a late one costs about as much as another night's breakfast.

Fine, and fine is enough
The Suite is well organised and everything has somewhere to go. Nobody blinked at a table for one, which is not true everywhere; quiet from about ten at night, once the bar downstairs empties out. The front door code worked every time, which sounds like a low bar until you have stayed somewhere it did not.
The Suite is smaller than the photographs suggest - two open cases will not fit on the floor.
