Location carries it
Good set-up for families - a shallow pool, high chairs and staff who do not mind noise. Clean bathroom, fresh towels daily, nothing to complain about.
Stairs only to the fifth floor, which was fine for us but would not suit everyone.

Handy for Golden Circle
The courtyard rooms hear nothing but pigeons, which is the whole point. Hlíðar turned out to be exactly the right call - everything we had pinned was walkable.
The bathroom light is on a motion sensor and comes on if you turn over in bed.

Faultless from start to finish
Room service arrived in fifteen minutes at half past ten, which is why I book here.
The last two hundred metres are steep and cobbled - not a problem, just plan for it.

Not terrible, not memorable
The desk is staffed at night, which mattered for my late arrival. Good for a few nights alone - I was left to get on with it.
Wasps around the breakfast tables in September, which is hardly their fault. The bed is too firm for me - I ended up putting the spare duvet under the sheet.

Fine if you're out all day
Clean and tidy throughout the stay. They let us sit in the courtyard with our own wine on the last night.
There is construction across the street that starts at half past seven, so bring earplugs.

Frustrating from the start
Mixed feelings about this one. The shower at least was hot.
The desk was stretched thin and it showed - five requests went unanswered. The heating did not work properly for the first four nights and the fix took until the second day.
