Left slightly deflated
Nobody blinked at a table for one, which is not true everywhere. A desk of a usable size, a proper chair and sockets where you need them. Al Wakrah is pleasant to wander in the evening, and nothing felt far.
The room I was given was not the one I booked and it took five conversations to be moved. The radiator clanked from about seven every morning.

Would stay again at that price
Clean bathroom, fresh towels daily, nothing to complain about. Breakfast is an extra, and worth it for seasonal fruit alone. Clean bed linen, clean towels, clean floors. That is the main thing. The desk is staffed at night, which mattered for my late arrival.
The air conditioning rattled on the second night; maintenance swapped a part the next morning. The sofa bed in the Deluxe King Room is not somewhere you would want a second week.

Wanted to like it more than I did; clean and tidy throughout the stay.
The bathroom light is on a motion sensor and comes on if you turn over in bed.

Hard to improve on
Astonishingly quiet for somewhere this central - we never heard the street once. Spot on for a first visit - you can walk out of the door and start. The window in the bathroom looks straight onto a wall covered in jasmine.
We were reminded about the half past ten checkout twice on the Wednesday, which felt unnecessary.

Could not have gone better
Twenty-four hour reception meant a two a.m. arrival was a non-event. Plenty of storage in the Standard Double Room, which sounds dull until you have unpacked for a fortnight. Proper shower pressure and hot water immediately, not after a minute of hoping. We ended up in the same corner cafe three mornings running, which tells you something about Al Wakrah.

Comfortable beds, good coffee
The wifi held up through a two-hour video call without a single drop; somebody on the desk at three in the morning when my flight finally landed, still cheerful.
The last two hundred metres are steep and cobbled - not a problem, just plan for it. The car park is a six-minute walk and costs more per night than I expected.
