9.1Solid choice, would return
Housekeeping were quietly excellent and clearly took pride in the rooms. Four of us across two rooms on the same corridor, which they arranged without being asked.
Shower pressure drops off when the floor is busy at about half past six. Getting a taxi to find the entrance took some explaining.

Three rooms on the same floor, which saved a lot of shouting up stairwells. We forgot it was a public holiday and they sorted us a table anyway.
Not enough sockets for eight people, so charging is a nightly negotiation.

7.9Location carries it
Sociable without being a party hostel, and the bunks are sturdy. I left a charger behind and it arrived at home nine days later, no charge for the postage. Bag storage on the last day was useful. Bikes to borrow, which we used on both mornings.
The Bed in 6-bed female dorm is smaller than the photographs suggest - two open cases will not fit on the floor.

5.7Disappointing, sadly
The bed itself was comfortable enough.
It is showing its age in places - a chipped door frame here, a tired carpet there.

9.5As good as Doha gets
Proper shower pressure and hot water immediately, not after a minute of hoping. Plenty of storage in the Bed in 4-bed dorm with bathroom, which sounds dull until you have unpacked for a fortnight.
The shower door leaks a little onto the bathroom floor. Blackout blinds would make a difference in November, when it is bright by half past six.

9.5Beat our expectations
The common room does that rare thing of being sociable without being loud at two in the morning. Hard to beat the position: Souq Waqif one way, the market the other, and no need for a taxi all week.
We had to be out by nine on the last day, and that is genuinely the worst of it.
