Would stay again at that price
Lovely for a couple of nights away, quiet and personal. Parking is available and reasonably priced for the area. The Twin Room suited us well for a short stay.
The buffet gets picked over if you arrive after nine.

The one to book in Vesturbær
Fifteen rooms, one very good coffee machine and a courtyard nobody talks in above a murmur. I uploaded a large file from the room in minutes and nobody at the other end noticed I was away.
Parking nearby is expensive, though that is Reykjavík rather than the hotel.

Handy for Harpa Concert Hall
Coffee on the balcony mid-afternoon, watching Vesturbær wake up. Worth the upgrade. We are not usually breakfast people and we went down every morning. The bed was the surprise: firm, wide and made up with linen that actually felt like linen.
Blackout blinds would make a difference in August, when it is bright by eight.

Happy we booked it
The kind of place you book for two nights and immediately regret not booking for four.
It is uphill from the metro, which you feel with our bags in the heat.

Frustrating from the start
Fine, with caveats. The room was at least clean when we arrived.
Towels are changed only on request, which is sensible but was not explained. The walls are those of an old house, so you hear the stairs at night.

Faultless from start to finish
There is a bakery two doors down that opens at six, which we discovered by accident on the first morning. Milo sorted a late checkout on the last day without us even having to push for it. I uploaded a large file from the room in minutes and nobody at the other end noticed I was away.
