No surprises, good or bad
Booked late and got lucky. Clean bed linen, clean towels, clean floors. That is the main thing.
Hot water was slow to arrive on the fifth floor first thing. Checkout is ten and a late one costs about as much as another night's breakfast.

Falls short of the description
Fine for a work trip: quiet floor, quick breakfast, cab rank outside.
You hear the door of the room next to you every time it shuts.

Lovely, if you don't mind stairs
Nobody made me feel odd about eating alone, and the desk checked I had got back on the wet night.
Checkout is half past ten and a late one costs about as much as another night's breakfast.

Fair value for Barcelona
Third time in Barcelona and the first time I have got the hotel right. The Family Room is well organised and everything has somewhere to go. Somebody had left a shelf of paperbacks by the window and I got through two of them.
Housekeeping missed me entirely on the Saturday.

Easy to recommend
Booked this on a whim and glad we did. Free weights and two treadmills that are not held together with tape. There is a lift, which in a building this old is a small miracle. Four of us across two rooms on the same corridor, which they arranged without being asked.
Blackout blinds would make a difference in October, when it is bright by eight.

Exactly right
The Family Room is bigger than the photographs suggest and cleverly laid out. The stairs creak in a way that is either charming or annoying depending on how tired you are. Free weights and two treadmills that are not held together with tape.
