One small lift for two floors - fine unless everyone checks out at once.

I am fussy about where I sleep. I slept well: the room is dark, cool and quiet after ten. Feels like a real home rather than a rental, which I prefer.
Roadworks on the corner from quarter past seven on the Monday, and nobody had warned me.

There is a lift, which in a building this old is a small miracle. The view from the balcony is not a marketing photograph - it is genuinely that.
Blackout blinds would make a difference in October, when it is bright by half past seven.

9.4Best breakfast of the trip
Short version: yes. Nothing was too much trouble - a spare adapter, a table booking, a taxi at dawn. Self check-in with a code, clear instructions, and I was inside two minutes after the taxi left.

8.7Nearly perfect
Hard to beat the position: Art Deco District one way, the market the other, and no need for a taxi all week. There is a good market on Saturday about five minutes away that nobody had told us about. Late nights out and nobody once tutted at us coming in at three.
The car park is a six-minute walk and costs more per night than we expected.
