Good location, mixed stay
The radiator clanked at about two in the morning and then settled down, and honestly I grew fond of it. Feels like a real home rather than a rental, which I prefer.
Nobody told me the restaurant was closed for the week until I turned up hungry on the Friday. The last two hundred metres are steep and cobbled - not a problem, just plan for it.

Handy for Machu Picchu
The building is residential, so the stairwell smells of somebody's dinner rather than air freshener. Nothing was too much trouble - a spare adapter, a table booking, a taxi at dawn. The view from the balcony is not a marketing photograph - it is genuinely that.
Blackout blinds would make a difference in December, when it is bright by eight.

Faultless from start to finish
There is a lift, which in a building this old is a small miracle. Spotless, including the places nobody checks - skirting boards, the kettle, under the bed.
The keycards demagnetised twice and we had to go back down to the desk.

Needs some attention
The flat suited us well for a short stay. Straightforward self check-in and a well-equipped flat. A desk of a usable size, a proper chair and sockets where you need them.
Hot water was slow to arrive on the second floor first thing.

Quiet and central, kind staff
Living like a resident rather than a guest for a week: market, kitchen, balcony, repeat - the lift has one of those inner doors you have to pull shut, which the children opposite treated as the highlight of their week.
Nothing that would stop us booking again tomorrow.

Everything we hoped for
We are fussy about where we sleep. Not a mark anywhere, and the room smelled of nothing at all, which is exactly right. Wanchaq turned out to be exactly the right call - everything we had pinned was walkable. Living like a resident rather than a guest for a week: market, kitchen, balcony, repeat.
Checkout is nine and a late one costs about as much as another night's breakfast.
