Passable, at a push
Worked well for a group of us, with somewhere to sit together in the evening. Comfortable bed, and they brought firmer pillows within ten minutes of asking.
Cleanliness was not what it should be - we found the previous guest's earring under the bed.

Practical rather than charming
Check-in was straightforward and the desk answered questions properly. They let us sit in the courtyard with our own wine on the last night. Breakfast is an extra, and worth it for eggs done to order alone. We slept well: the room is dark, cool and quiet after ten.
The radiator clanked from about six every morning.

Wanted to like it more
Wanted to like it more than we did. Reception were helpful when we needed a doctor's address, which we appreciated. Pleasant bar for a nightcap, and they do not rush you out of it. Reasonably peaceful at the back of the building. There is a shortcut through the square that saves about five minutes and somebody drew it on our map.
Nobody was on the desk for about ten minutes when we arrived on the Saturday.

Beat our expectations
The lift has one of those inner doors you have to pull shut, which the children opposite treated as the highlight of their week. In at eleven at night, out at six, and everything worked. That is all I need.

Late nights out and nobody once tutted at us coming in at three.
Only one socket by the bed, and the switch for it is behind the headboard.
