Book it and stop looking
The kind of place you book for two nights and immediately regret not booking for four. We upgraded to the Suite and would do it again without thinking.

Quiet and central, kind staff
Double glazing that works, so the tram going past is a rumour rather than an event. Breakfast is worth getting up for: warm bread and good jam, the coffee made to order and fruit that tasted of something. Fifteen rooms, one very good coffee machine and a courtyard nobody talks in above a murmur.
We could not find anything to complain about.

Frankton done properly
Four of us across two rooms on the same corridor, which they arranged without being asked - there is a shortcut through the square that saves about five minutes and somebody drew it on our map.
Loading and unloading outside is awkward on a street that narrow.

Nearly perfect
They cook eggs how you ask and the bread comes from the bakery opposite, still warm. A proper coffee machine in the room, not sachets of dust. Late nights out and nobody once tutted at us coming in at three.
One person on the desk at ten in the evening means a queue when the airport bus arrives.

As good as Queenstown gets
We are not usually breakfast people and we went down every morning. Hard to beat the position: Milford Sound one way, the market the other, and no need for a taxi all week.
