Ask for a room at the back
The kind of place you book for two nights and immediately regret not booking for four.
Checkout at half past ten is early when you have an evening flight.

Better than the photographs
Nobody made me feel odd about eating alone, and the desk checked I had got back on the wet night. My flight landed at one in the morning and the man on the desk still made me a tea.

Fine, but not at that price
Two nights, and two would have been plenty. The window in the bathroom looks straight onto a wall covered in jasmine. You get more for the money here than at the two places we priced up in La Boquilla.
Check-in is not until four and there is nowhere comfortable to wait.

Spoiled us completely
The bathroom is bigger than the one at home, with a rain shower and a bench to put things on - plenty of storage in the Cosy Room, which sounds dull until you have unpacked for a fortnight. The neighbour opposite waters her balcony at seven every morning and says hello.
The car park is a three-minute walk and costs more per night than we expected.

Clean and central, not much else
Efficient and predictable, which is what a two-night work trip needs.
The Suite is smaller than the photographs suggest - two open cases will not fit on the floor.

The best night's sleep of the trip
Check-in was quick and human, and they remembered our names for the rest of the stay; records in the room, a proper armchair and the coffee that would hold up in any city.
Only the weather, which is hardly their doing.
