Several things went wrong
The shower at least was hot.
The sofa bed in the Twin Room is not somewhere you would want a second week. Wifi drops in the far rooms, so I took calls in the lobby.

Christmas markets two streets away and the smell of them drifting up to the window.

Location good, room less so
Booked on the photographs, which was my mistake. A bell rings somewhere nearby on the hour and I stopped noticing it by the second day. The owners are kind and the breakfast is homemade, which counts for a lot. Reasonably peaceful at the back of the building.
The heating is on a timer and goes off at about eleven, which in December you feel by morning. The air conditioning rattled on the third night; maintenance swapped a part the next morning.

Would think twice
Two nights, and two would have been plenty. A cat lives in the courtyard and considers the chairs to be hers. The owners are kind and the breakfast is homemade, which counts for a lot. They keep a pillow menu at reception and actually bring what you ask for.
Loading and unloading outside is awkward on a street that narrow. The connection slowed to nothing each evening from about half past nine, when the place fills up.

Great base for Los Angeles
Housekeeping were quietly excellent and clearly took pride in the rooms. We ended up in the same corner cafe three mornings running, which tells you something about Beverly Hills.
The shower head is fixed high on the wall and cannot be angled.

Fair value for Los Angeles
Reasonably peaceful at the back of the building. The room was cleaned properly every day and the bins were never left.
The furniture is dated and the corridors could do with a repaint.
