Very happy indeed
We arrived hours early and they took my rucksack without a fuss, then messaged when the room was ready. The common room does that rare thing of being sociable without being loud at two in the morning. Ciudad Amurallada has that mix of locals and visitors that makes a place feel alive rather than staged.

Genuinely special
Slept better than at home, which after four flights in a week is saying something. Lockers are big enough for a sixty-litre pack, which almost nowhere manages.

Mixed, mostly good
Easy place to stay on your own, and the area is fine to walk at night. Plenty of places to eat within a short walk, most of them reasonably priced.
No lift, and it is four flights with a hard turn at the top. Worth knowing before you book.

Does the important things well
Booked this on a whim and glad we did. Proper shower pressure and hot water immediately, not after a minute of hoping.
The shower door leaks a little onto the bathroom floor.

Average stay in a good spot
Sociable without being a party hostel, and the bunks are sturdy.
The shower takes a good minute to warm up, which adds up over two days. The kitchen closes at half past nine, which we found out the hard way on the Monday.

The one to book in Ciudad Amurallada
Not a mark anywhere, and the room smelled of nothing at all, which is exactly right. I ended up in the same corner cafe three mornings running, which tells you something about Ciudad Amurallada. Nobody made me feel odd about eating alone, and the desk checked I had got back on the wet night.
Nothing - we have already looked at dates for next year.
