6.6Wanted to like it more
The terrace is a good place to sit with a book in the late afternoon. Sociable without being a party hostel, and the bunks are sturdy. The rate held steady when we added a night, which we appreciated.
Not much space to move around the bed once a case is open on the floor. Checkout is half past nine and a late one costs about as much as another night's breakfast.

8.3Nothing to complain about, nothing to rave about
The bathroom is cleverly laid out and the shower is hot and fast. The terrace is a good place to sit with a book in the late afternoon. The Bed in 4-bed dorm with bathroom suited me well for a short stay.
There is construction across the street that starts at half past seven, so bring earplugs.

5.9Disappointing, sadly
The staff were friendly and the lockers were secure. The room was at least clean when we arrived.
Scaffolding went up on the building opposite halfway through our stay. The aircon unit drips onto the balcony floor, which we mentioned on the Friday.

8.6Good value for Athaiba
We are fussy about where we sleep. Lockers are big enough for a sixty-litre pack, which almost nowhere manages. Free bikes turned a good stay into a great one - we rode along the canal both days.
The car park is a three-minute walk and costs more per night than we expected.

4.4Nothing worked as advertised
One of the cleaners was lovely and clearly working with nothing. Cheap, and now I understand why.
We left a night early, which we have never done before. The heating did not come on for the whole stay and it was November. The Bed in 8-bed mixed dorm had not been cleaned properly: hair in the shower tray and dust along every skirting board.

8.0No complaints, no fireworks
The view over the rooftops from the balcony is a proper one. Plenty of places to eat within a short walk, most of them reasonably priced. Good for a few nights alone - I was left to get on with it.
The aircon unit drips onto the balcony floor, which I mentioned on the Monday.
