Location carries it
Firm mattress, which is exactly how we like it. The view over the rooftops from the balcony is a proper one. Bikes to borrow, which we used on both mornings.
Getting a taxi to find the entrance took some explaining.

Fine, and fine is enough
The bathroom is cleverly laid out and the shower is hot and fast. Nobody blinked at a table for one, which is not true everywhere.
The bathroom light is on a motion sensor and comes on if you turn over in bed.

As good as Havana gets
Booked late and got lucky. For Havana, this is a properly central spot without the coach parties. We ended up in the same corner cafe three mornings running, which tells you something about Cerro. The lift has one of those inner doors you have to pull shut, which the children opposite treated as the highlight of their week.
One person on the desk at half past nine in the evening means a queue when the airport bus arrives.

Good sleep, good breakfast
The bathroom is bigger than the one at home, with a rain shower and a bench to put things on. Homemade cake at four in the afternoon, whether or not you asked for it.
It is uphill from the metro, which you feel with my rucksack in the heat. Wasps around the breakfast tables in August, which is hardly their fault.

We forgot it was a public holiday and they sorted us a table anyway - the bed was the surprise: firm, wide and made up with linen that actually felt like linen.
Blackout blinds would make a difference in July, when it is bright by quarter past seven.

Poor value in Cerro
The owners are kind and the breakfast is homemade, which counts for a lot.
The walls are those of an old house, so you hear the stairs at night. Stairs only to the fifth floor, which was fine for us but would not suit everyone.
