7.3Not terrible, not memorable
Lovely for a couple of nights away, quiet and personal. Somebody had left a shelf of paperbacks by the window and I got through two of them.
Stairs only to the third floor, which was fine for us but would not suit everyone. The last two hundred metres are steep and cobbled - not a problem, just plan for it.

Not a mark anywhere, and the room smelled of nothing at all, which is exactly right.
Only that everywhere else now has a lot to live up to.

6.2Better options in Copacabana
The owners are kind and the breakfast is homemade, which counts for a lot. Good position overall, and we walked most places rather than paying for cabs.
The wall to the corridor carries every conversation, and there was one at half past ten on the Monday.

9.6Spoiled us completely
Third time in Rio de Janeiro and the first time we have got the hotel right. Homemade cake at four in the afternoon, whether or not you asked for it.
A second bedside lamp and a couple more sockets would finish the room off.

4.4Not clean, not quiet, not cheap
Nothing I would put in this box, and I have thought about it.
I was charged a cleaning fee that was not in the booking and had to argue to get it back. The bathroom door did not shut and the toilet ran all night.

The Double Room with Garden View is well organised and everything has somewhere to go; good spread at breakfast and they keep the coffee coming.
The city tax and the cleaning fee together came as a surprise at checkout.
