Beat our expectations
Nothing was too much trouble - a spare adapter, a table booking, a taxi at dawn. Cheaper than the chain hotels two streets over and considerably nicer.

Better than the price suggests
Straight to it: the location is the thing. The lift has one of those inner doors you have to pull shut, which the children opposite treated as the highlight of their week. They cook eggs how you ask and the bread comes from the bakery opposite, still warm.
Only one socket by the bed, and the switch for it is behind the headboard. Parking nearby is expensive, though that is Vancouver rather than the hotel.

Worst stay of the trip
One of the cleaners was lovely and clearly working with nothing.
Breakfast was advertised and included, then turned out to be cereal and instant coffee. The heating did not come on for the whole stay and it was November.

Needs some attention
Charming small hotel, and the old terrazzo floor lifts it above the usual. A cat lives in the courtyard and considers the chairs to be hers. The room was cleaned properly every day and the bins were never left.
The wall to the corridor carries every conversation, and there was one at eleven on the Tuesday.

Some good, some frustrating
Two nights, and two would have been plenty. The view over the rooftops from the balcony is a proper one.
There is construction across the street that starts at eight, so bring earplugs. Breakfast is at a set time of half past seven, which does not suit a lie-in.

Pleasant but noisy at night
Good spread at breakfast and they keep the coffee coming. Reasonably peaceful at the back of the building. Bikes to borrow, which we used on both mornings.
Aircon only runs when the balcony door is properly shut, and the catch is temperamental.
