Fair value for Helsinki
Clean bed linen, clean towels, clean floors. That is the main thing.
The extractor does not cope, so the mirror is useless after the first shower.

Ask for a room at the back
Booked late and got lucky. They lent us an umbrella on the wet Tuesday and did not ask for it back until we left. Grace sat with us over a map on the first evening and half our trip came out of that conversation.
Nobody was on the desk for about ten minutes when we arrived on the Sunday.

Does what it says
Jätkäsaari is a sensible base, a few streets back from the crowds and still close to everything. Lovely for a couple of nights away, quiet and personal.
The staircase is narrow and steep, so allow a minute or two more than you think.

A stay of two halves
Booked on the photographs, which was my mistake. The owners are kind and the breakfast is homemade, which counts for a lot. They keep a jar of sweets by the lift that nobody admits to eating from.
Breakfast is at a set time of half past seven, which does not suit a lie-in.

Fine for a couple of nights
Came for two nights, stayed four. The rate held steady when we added a night, which we appreciated. Check-in was straightforward and the desk answered questions properly. Plenty of places to eat within a short walk, most of them reasonably priced.
It is uphill from the metro, which you feel with the suitcases in the heat.

They keep a pillow menu at reception and actually bring what you ask for.
Blackout blinds would make a difference in August, when it is bright by seven.
