Easy to recommend
Third time in Santorini and the first time I have got the hotel right. I ended up in the same corner cafe three mornings running, which tells you something about Kamari. The common room does that rare thing of being sociable without being loud at two in the morning.
Nothing - we have already looked at dates for next year.

Regretted it by the second night
Cheap, and now I understand why.
The bathroom door did not shut and the toilet ran all night. No hot water at all on the second morning, and no warning that the boiler was being worked on. Building work started at quarter past seven each morning and nobody had warned us at booking.

Could not have gone better
Staff run things properly - keycard on the dorm door, quiet hours actually enforced. Not a mark anywhere, and the room smelled of nothing at all, which is exactly right.
Only that everywhere else now has a lot to live up to.

Ask for a room at the back
Somebody on the desk at three in the morning when my flight finally landed, still cheerful. Spot on for a first visit - you can walk out of the door and start. The roof terrace at sunset is the reason to book this place - I went up every night.
The curtains do not quite meet in the middle, so you are up with the light.

Good location, average room
Room was warm enough in November, which was the main worry. Kamari is a sensible base, a few streets back from the crowds and still close to everything.
The radiator clanked from about six every morning.

Solid choice, would return
Not a mark anywhere, and the room smelled of nothing at all, which is exactly right. Nothing was too much trouble - a spare adapter, a table booking, a taxi at dawn. Bunks have curtains, a plug and a light each, which is all anyone actually wants. The radiator clanked at about two in the morning and then settled down, and honestly I grew fond of it.
Nothing that would stop us booking again tomorrow.
