10.0Our favourite find in Zanzibar
Nobody made me feel odd about eating alone, and the desk checked I had got back on the wet night. The view from the balcony is not a marketing photograph - it is genuinely that.

7.7Does the job
A cat lives in the courtyard and considers the chairs to be hers. Reception were helpful when we needed a doctor's address, which we appreciated.
Mosquitoes in the evening once the doors are open - the shop on the corner sells the plug-ins.

10.0Worth every penny
You step out of the door and you are already somewhere worth being. I booked for three nights and extended to five, which tells you what I thought of the price.
Nothing that would stop us booking again tomorrow.

Being twenty-five minutes from Jozani Forest was the one thing that worked in its favour. The view over the rooftops from the balcony is a proper one.
Towels are changed only on request, which is sensible but was not explained.

4.9Dirty and badly run
It is quiet during the day, if that is any use to anyone. The location is genuinely good, and that is the only reason this is not lower.
I do not enjoy writing reviews like this one. The room smelled strongly of damp and the window did not open to air it out. I was given a different room from the one I booked, smaller and facing the bins, with no adjustment to the price.

9.8Slept like a stone
Fast, stable wifi in the room rather than only in the lobby, which is rarer than it should be. I left a charger behind and it arrived at home nine days later, no charge for the postage.
Checkout at eleven is early when you have an evening flight. It is a good eight minutes from the nearest tram stop, further than the listing suggests.
