Booked late and got lucky. The Bed in 8-bed mixed dorm suited me well for a short stay.
The kitchen gets chaotic around eleven, so cook early or late.

I am fussy about where I sleep. Firm mattress, which suits me, and a duvet that is not the usual thin thing.
It is a good seven minutes from the nearest tram stop, further than the listing suggests.

One of the cleaners was lovely and clearly working with nothing.
Booked for four nights and spent most of them wishing I had not. I reported a broken shower on arrival and it was still broken when I left five days later. Housekeeping did not come at all in three nights and I asked for towels twice.

9.4A proper welcome
Oerlikon has that mix of locals and visitors that makes a place feel alive rather than staged. Travelling on my own, I never felt uneasy walking back into Oerlikon late at night. Luggage storage on the last day meant a proper final afternoon rather than dragging cases about.

Late nights out and nobody once tutted at us coming in at three - the kettle was already descaled, which is the kind of detail that tells you how a place is run.

7.1A stay of two halves
Two nights, and two would have been plenty. Good for a few nights alone - I was left to get on with it. The Bed in 8-bed mixed dorm suited me well for a short stay.
Nobody was on the desk for about forty minutes when I arrived on the Saturday. It is uphill from the metro, which you feel with the cases in the heat.
